Computer for Girls Camp
It is no longer a tale that women remain significantly underrepresented in today’s information technology (IT) workforce. The population of women in the IT industry is dropping substantially; leading to a situation in which women are failing to advance in the managerial and professional ranks in IT. There is therefore a serious need for the IT to draw on a critical talent base; the female youths.
The essence of this camping exercise is to bridge the gender gap in IT by bringing together young girls from Nigerian secondary schools and introducing them to Computer Science in 2 days to 1-week long day-camp in an innovative manner. During the period, Participants are expected to learn and appreciate Computer Science rudiments in a fun and imaginative new way.
Having been created by is being run by enthusiastic female professionals in Information Technology, the camping shall bring together seasoned and successful female motivators in IT field to mentor these girls,
CGC days will be packed with hands-on activities and opportunities to experiment and delve deeper into their love of Computer Science and Technology. It is hoped that at the end of the Computer for Girls camp, we would have stirred the interest of these girls into considering Computer and Information Technology as a profession.
By partnering with interested individuals, organisations, schools, groups, community leaders, churches, schools, local government, state governments etc, we ensure that the programme is completely free to participants.
